There are a few ways to play Modern Warfare 3 early, but most of them require you to have a friend who already has the game.
Method 1: New Zealand trick
This method works on both Xbox and PlayStation consoles.
- Change your system’s region to New Zealand.
- Restart your console.
- Open the Call of Duty store and purchase Modern Warfare 3.
- Once the game has finished downloading, you can play it early.
Method 2: PC friend trick
This method works on PC.

- Have a friend who already has Modern Warfare 3 on PC invite you to a game.
- Accept their invite and join their lobby.
- You will now be able to play Modern Warfare 3, even if you don’t own the game yourself.
Method 3: Offline mode
This method works on both Xbox and PlayStation consoles.
- Open the Call of Duty launcher and sign in to your online profile.
- Quickly press the Circle button (Xbox) or the B button (PlayStation) to back out of your profile.
- You will be asked if you want to enter offline mode. Select Yes.
- You will now be able to play Modern Warfare 3 in offline mode.
Important notes
- If you are using the New Zealand trick or the PC friend trick, you will need to keep your console or PC connected to the internet in order to play Modern Warfare 3.
- If you are using the offline mode trick, you will only be able to play the single-player campaign and Spec Ops mode. You will not be able to play multiplayer mode.
Please note that these methods may not work on all platforms or regions. Additionally, Activision may take action against users who attempt to play Modern Warfare 3 early.
