Patcay.com – Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony PlayStation, has announced his intention to step down from his position and enter retirement in March 2024, after an impressive career spanning nearly three decades with the company.
Jim Ryan first joined Sony Interactive Entertainment in Europe in 1994 when the company was still known as Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, working in the legal department. Since then, he has held several key positions within the company, including President of SIEE, Head of Global Sales and Marketing for SIE, and Deputy President of SIE since January 2018.
In 2019, Jim Ryan was appointed as President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, the company overseeing the PlayStation platform.
“After 30 years, I have made the decision to retire from SIE in March 2024,” stated Ryan, as quoted from Sony Interactive’s official statement on Thursday (28/9/2023).
While acknowledging that he has had an extraordinary job at the company and worked with exceptional individuals, he also mentioned that it has become increasingly challenging for him to balance living in Europe and carrying out his duties in North America.
“I will leave this place with a sense of gratitude for having contributed to products that have impacted millions of lives worldwide,” said Jim Ryan.
“The PlayStation icon will always be a part of my life, and I am very optimistic about the future of SIE,” he added.
During the transition period, Hiroki Totoki, President, COO, and CFO of Sony Group Corporation, will assume the role of Chairman of Sony Interactive Entertainment in October 2023.
