Patcay.com – Apple has officially ceased development of its electric car project known as Project Titan. Last Tuesday, reports from Bloomberg revealed that Apple had informed its internal staff of this decision.
The majority of the over 2,000 employees involved in the project will transition to Apple’s generative artificial intelligence initiatives.
Jeff Williams, Apple’s Chief Operating Officer, along with Kevin Lynch, the Vice President responsible for the project, directly announced the suspension of electric car development to the staff.

Bloomberg’s report also suggests the possibility of staff layoffs as a consequence of this decision, although the exact number remains unclear.
While Apple’s efforts to develop an electric car have been widely known for the past few years, recent reports indicate that the project has finally been discontinued. Earlier this month, Wired reported that Apple had tested its car for over 45,000 miles in 2023, utilizing the autonomous driving technology they had been developing.
Last month, Bloomberg’s report stated that the launch of the electric car had been delayed until 2028 by the Cupertino-based company. Attempts by journalists from The Verge to confirm this information with Apple yielded no results.
