Patcay.com – ByteDance, the driving force behind TikTok’s success, is reportedly streamlining its team by laying off a number of employees, particularly in the gaming division.
The latest news indicates that Nuverse, the publisher of the Marvel Snap game, seems to be the primary casualty in this restructuring, with plans even to cease the continuation of this brand by ByteDance.
“In our periodic review of our business to focus on long-term strategic growth, we have decided to restructure our gaming business,” ByteDance stated to Reuters.

Established in 2019, Nuverse, a subsidiary of ByteDance, focuses on mobile and web games, including the highly popular Marvel Snap.
ByteDance is also rumored to withdraw support from several game titles released by Nuverse, including Marvel Snap and Crystal of Atlan.
Furthermore, on Monday, employees were informed not to continue the development of unreleased games in December. While ByteDance has not specified how many roles will be affected, reports from TechCrunch indicate that a massive layoff has been confirmed and is underway.
Meanwhile, Marvel Snap developers assure their players that their game will still be enjoyable. Through their official Twitter account @MARVELSNAP, they stated, “Although some of our players have expressed concerns about changes in Nuverse, SNAP will continue to operate and grow in the future!”
As reported by Polygon, Marvel Snap is developed by the indie studio Second Dinner, based in Irvine, California, United States.
