Patcay.com – Meta has announced the latest feature on their social media platform, Facebook, which allows users to create up to five personal profiles within a single account.
This innovation aims to provide users with better capabilities to manage and separate their personal and professional lives or maintain separate profiles for various interests and communities they follow.
“By creating multiple personal profiles, you can easily control with whom you share and see content that is relevant to various aspects of your life,” as conveyed by Meta in their official statement.
For instance, a Facebook user can create one profile exclusively dedicated to their culinary interests, while another account is used to maintain connections with friends and family.
As mentioned in their blog on Friday (29/9/2023), Meta stated that the feature for creating personal profiles has been globally released the previous week and will be made available to users in the coming months.
According to Meta, although Facebook has previously offered controls on who can view a user’s shared content, after testing on several profiles over the past year, more detailed settings regarding friends, groups, and user interests have made the experience of interacting with the most relevant audience more comfortable.
How to Create Additional Profiles on Facebook Meta provides the following steps to create additional profiles within a Facebook account:
Select a name and create an @username for up to four additional personal profiles. Connect with individuals or communities of your choice so that each profile has a unique Feed with relevant content and similar interests. Users will be able to switch between profiles easily without the need for repeated logins. However, some Facebook features such as Dating, Marketplace, Professional Mode, and payments will not be available on additional personal profiles during the launch phase.
Meanwhile, the messaging feature for additional personal profiles will be accessible through the Facebook app and web version. Meta also plans to introduce chat features for additional profiles in the coming months.
Furthermore, the option to create additional profiles will only be accessible to adult users.
When creating additional personal profiles, settings will be automatically set to default, meaning that notification and privacy settings from one profile will not affect the others.
Certain settings, such as who can view profile posts or send friend requests, will also be managed separately for each profile.
Meta also reminds users to adhere to their Community Standards when using this feature, including prohibiting fraud or identity impersonation.
Repeated violations of these policies may result in appropriate sanctions from the company, affecting both the account and all associated profiles.
