Patcay.com – The parent company of the Pokemon franchise, The Pokemon Company, has played a role in assisting those affected by the earthquake in the Noto Peninsula earlier this year by making a significant donation.
In an announcement through its X-themed social media account on Thursday (1/11/2024), The Pokemon Company stated that it had donated 50 million Yen through the Japanese Red Cross.
The donation is expected to support the organization’s efforts in providing assistance to earthquake victims and aiding in the recovery process in the affected areas.

In addition to the donation to the Japanese Red Cross, through their foundation, the Pokemon With You Foundation, the company also carried out activities to help children who were victims of the disaster.
“We sincerely pray for the swift recovery and reconstruction of the disaster-affected areas,” said a representative from The Pokemon Company.
Not only The Pokemon Company, but Square Enix, another gaming company, also made a donation of five million yen to support relief efforts for earthquake victims in the region.
According to reports from Nintendo Life and Siliconera, the number of casualties due to the earthquake in Japan on January 1, 2024, reached 126 people as of Saturday, January 6, 2024.

The city of Wajima recorded the highest number of deaths, with 69 people, followed by Suzu with 38 people. Over 500 people were reported injured, with around 27 of them suffering serious injuries.
Officials warned about the risk of collapsing roads that had cracked due to the prolonged earthquake. The risk increased further due to the forecast of rain and snow on the night of Saturday and Sunday, January 7, 2024.
The magnitude 7.5 earthquake that occurred in the city of Suzu, Noto Peninsula, Ishikawa Prefecture on January 1, 2024, followed by a tsunami, caused severe damage to the Noto Peninsula region.
