Patcay.com – A startling incident unfolded when a chunk of debris from the International Space Station (ISS) hurled from space and collided with a house in Florida, USA, causing damage to the property.
The story came to light recently when the homeowner, Alejandro Otero, shared his experience of a metallic object “penetrating the roof and piercing through the second floor of his house,” narrowly missing his child. The event occurred on March 8.
Space observers at the time speculated that the object originated from space. They believed the event aligned with official predictions of atmospheric burn-up involving fragments of cargo pallets carrying discarded batteries, ejected from orbit in 2021.

The United States’ National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) swiftly intervened to investigate the matter and retrieved the object from Otero for analysis. Following examination, NASA confirmed that the debris chunk striking Otero’s home was part of a satellite.
“Based on our examination, NASA has determined that the debris is a component of flight support equipment used for battery installation on cargo pallets,” NASA stated in its latest blog post.
