Patcay.com – A portal linking Dublin and New York through a live stream has reopened with new restrictions after reports of “mooning” and other inappropriate actions.
The interactive artwork had been temporarily closed due to incidents involving individuals exposing body parts, using offensive language, and displaying 9/11 images.
The portal is now operational again with set hours: 6am to 4pm in New York City and 11am to 9pm in Dublin.

To address antisocial behavior, Portals.org has implemented a “proximity-based solution.” If someone steps on the portal and blocks the camera, the live stream will blur on both sides of the Atlantic.
In New York, on-site security will be present during all operating hours, and fencing has been added for crowd control.
In Dublin, new “physical design features” are being introduced to manage crowds.
Since its launch earlier this month, the artwork has attracted tens of thousands of visitors and nearly two billion online hits.

While most people experienced a “sense of joy and connectedness,” measures were needed to curb the inappropriate behavior of a minority.
The portal has now “reawakened,” according to a joint statement from Dublin City Council, Portals.org, and the Flatiron NoMad Partnership.
“The team will continue making updates as needed to ensure that everyone can continue to enjoy the portal.”
Portals.org artist and founder Benediktas Gylys said, “As humans, we are creating the portals experience together. I invite local communities not only to enjoy but to care about their portals and how other community members are approaching the sculptures.”
